Why Posh We Are? Whats that all about?

Brian Paine was Sports Editor of the Peterborough Evening Telegraph, together with sub-editor colleague Tony Pickering, Brian put the song together in double quick time. The new Rogers and Hammerstein then consulted a friend of theirs who plays in a local showband and, hey presto, Posh We Are was echoing round a recording studio in Wellingborough as Peterborough players cut their very first disc.

The record - with a flipside written by their friend – went on general release a few hours before Peterborough took on Bishops Stortford in the F.A. Cup and 200 copies were snapped up by eager ‘Posh’ fans.
